New local mountain bike group starts up

A new low key local group are aiming to attract mountain bikers of all abilities, who are keen for a social, non-technical ride once a month on local trails. The group plans to meet at the sports pavilion either on a weekday evening during summer months, or on a Saturday/Sunday morning during winter months (dates TBC).

From the pavilion the group will head out for about an hour or so before returning to Killin for a chance to rehydrate and socialise. While the group aims to attract riders of all abilities the group does not offer any formal instruction, and as such, individuals participate on the understanding that they are responsible for their own safety. However, the group can provide a few bikes for those who don’t have their own mountain bike, and their more experienced group members are more than happy to give tips and guidance to any novice mountain biker.

The first meeting will be on Friday 1st September 2017, meeting at the Sports pavilion at 6pm. From there the group will head out and cover the route marked below, which is about 15km in distance. Moving at a relaxed pace we will aim to cover the route in about 1½ to 2 hours. If you feel this route is a bit long for you, come along and do what you can.

So, if you have an interest in mountain biking, or would like to start, please feel free to come along and join in the fun. Hope to see you there!
